NAMIBIAN-GROWN APPLES DEBUT
NAMIBIAN-GROWN APPLES DEBUT: Agricultural history has been made with the first Namibian-grown apples now available on store shelves in Windhoek. Roots Namibia’s general manager, Hanré Smith, announced yesterday that the first authentic Namibian apples are available at Food Lover’s Market (FLM) Namibia at Hilltop Village in Windhoek. The apples, harvested from orchards planted in 2019 at the Roots agricultural project in Stampriet, are available at FLM and Roots Deli. Apple juice is also being produced from the apples. Roots produces a wide variety of crops and livestock and manufactures various products ranging from chili sauces and spices to gin. Photo and text: Aurelia Afrikaner
