Lumpy skin disease reported at Okakakara

Just days after confirming an outbreak of lumpy skin disease in the Nehale LyaMpingana constituency of the Oshikoto Region, the directorate of veterinary services says cases have now also been confirmed in the Okakarara constituency in the Otjozondjupa Region.
Outbreaks were detected in the Okondjatu area at five settlements, namely Ouatjiri, Otjijamangombe, Otjomukaru, Otjipoko and Okatemba-kondova, between 29 November and 11 December.
According to the directorate, 39 cattle showed clinical signs of the disease while two had died.
The directorate urged farmers to prioritise vaccinating their healthy livestock.
