A 42-year-old construction worker tragically lost his life after falling from a roof while working on a renovation project at Puma Energy in Walvis Bay’s small industrial area on Friday afternoon.

According to a police report, the incident occurred at approximately 13:35. The deceased, identified as Jafet Kashinda, was employed by T&V Investments and had been working alongside a colleague while inside a safety cage supported by a crane.

It is alleged that Kashinda unfastened his safety harness to quickly fix some screws on the roof when he lost his balance and fell through the sheet, landing on a concrete slab below. He sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Welwitschia Hospital by ambulance but subsequently succumbed to his wounds.
