Woman hospitalised after being hit by car

A woman sustained serious injuries after being hit by a car on Saturday at Mukekete village along the B10 road in the Kavango West Region.

Chief Inspector Raimbert Muronga of the Kavango West police confirmed the incident, which took place at around 12:30.

According to him, the driver of a black Volkswagen Polo was travelling from Nkurenkuru to Ntara village when he struck a pedestrian who was crossing the road. "The victim, an adult female, sustained injuries to her left leg and bruises on her right leg and face. She was taken to Nankudu Hospital and later transferred to Rundu Hospital for further treatment," Muronga said.

The driver, who only possesses a learner's licence, was tested for alcohol, arrested and detained. Police investigations continue.
