As Heroes Day approaches, in addition to large-scale events across Namibia, the Namibian Police has appealed to road users to be safe on the roads.

Police spokesperson Kauna Shikwambi said with expected high traffic volumes on national roads, it's "crucial to emphasise the importance of road safety.”

“The nation is advised to drive safely, exercise patience while on the road, plan trips in advance, avoid driving under the influence of alcohol, and, most importantly, adhere to the stipulated road traffic rules and regulations. Ensure your vehicle is in optimal condition; this includes checking tires, brakes, lights and fluid levels to avoid any issues while on the road.”

She said to reduce road accidents, particularly on the B1 and B2 highways, traffic law enforcement officers will conduct road safety operations, including intensifying patrols and setting up mobile roadblocks.
