NEWS IN SHORT
Oshikoto police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a 70-year-old man died on Saturday evening when the car he was driving collided with a truck on the B1 road between Omuthiya and Ondangwa at Oshifukwa.
A case of reckless and negligent driving has been opened against the truck driver.
The incident happened about eight kilometres from Omuthiya, Oshikoto regional commander, commissioner Teopolina Kalompo-Nashikaku, said.
It is alleged that the driver of the Scania truck was driving onto the road from the right to the left side of where it had been parked.
A Toyota D4D, travelling in the opposite direction, collided with the truck.
"The driver of the bakkie died on the spot, while two passengers sustained serious injuries," Kalompo-Nashikaku said.
Both have been admitted to the hospital.
She said the driver of the truck did not sustain physical injuries, but he was admitted to Omuthiya Hospital for observation.
The 23-year-old truck driver was travelling from Luanda, Angola, to Johannesburg, South Africa.
