Man hospitalised after hippo attack

A 32-year-old man was hospitalised after being attacked by a hippo while fishing at Kamutjonga village in the Kavango East Region on Monday.
Namibian Police acting regional commander, Deputy Commissioner Eino Nambahu, confirmed the incident, which took place at around 02:00.
Nambahu said the victim, Mudipiri Kamana, went fishing with two friends from the same village.
“As they were paddling the canoe, a single hippo struck the canoe, breaking it apart. As the victim tried to swim to the shore, the hippo attacked him, causing serious injuries. His condition is reported to be serious but stable,” he said.
