Man drowns in muddy water

A 39-year-old man drowned on Friday at Kakoro village in the Kavango West Region after falling from a canoe while attempting to cross the river to Angola with his three-year-old daughter.

Chief Inspector Raimbert Muronga of the Kavango West police confirmed the incident, which took place at around 16:45.

The deceased, identified as Aushona Ndumba, became stuck in the mud after falling into the river. His next of kin have been informed.

"Reports indicate that Ndumba was trying to cross to Angola with his wife and children when the tragedy occurred. He was with his three-year-old daughter, while his wife went to find another canoe for the crossing."

His body was taken to the Nkurenkuru police mortuary for an autopsy. Police investigations continue.
