Man dies after attempted well rescue

A 50-year-old man, identified as Fillipus Shavuka Hango, died on Saturday at Onamatanga village in the Omusati Region's Ruacana constituency while he and others were removing mud from a water well.
The man was allegedly trying to rescue another man who had become unconscious in the well due to a suspected lack of oxygen. Both men were eventually rescued from the well, but were in a critical condition. “They were still breathing but [they] were in a critical condition. They were transported to Okahao District Hospital where the deceased died upon arrival,” police said.
