Body of missing learner discovered in Lake Guinas

Enzo Amuele
The remains of O'Linn Nauyoma, a learner from Etosha Secondary School in Tsumeb, have been recovered after he tragically drowned in Lake Guinas on 24 September 2024. The incident occurred during a school trip to the lake, which has gained notoriety for similar tragedies in recent years.

Executive Director of the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture, Sanet Steenkamp, confirmed the discovery and reiterated the government's commitment to supporting Nauyoma's family during this difficult time.

Lake Guinas, a popular but hazardous location, has been the site of multiple drownings, raising concerns about the safety of such excursions.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
