British billionaire Harvey Boulter, who is on trial for the murder of his farm manager, which took place in Kamanjab in 2021, appeared in the Windhoek High Court yesterday for the civil case brought against him by the deceased's wife and children.

The deceased's wife, Alta van Wyk, and their children, Gerhard Jr and Michelle, as well as their daughter-in-law, Liani, have instituted a claim for N$84.5 million in damages from Boulter.

Boulter is accused of having shot the late Gerhard van Wyk Sr during a scuffle at a barbecue on the farm on 27 February 2021. The family claims in court documents that they witnessed the shooting incident. They are claiming damages for, among other things, loss of support and unbearable living conditions after the incident. Parties appeared before Judge Orben Sibeya for a preliminary hearing yesterday. - - Kristien Kruger
