SADC ministers to meet next week
News in short
The Southern African Development Community (SADC) Council of Ministers is scheduled to convene next week in Luanda, Angola, with ambassador Téte António set to host the meeting.
António is Angola’s minister of external relations and the current chairperson of the council.
Comprising ministers from the 16 SADC member states, the council oversees the development and implementation of SADC policies and decisions.
In a statement this week, the SADC media office said these ministers - representing various portfolios such as foreign affairs, economic planning, finance and trade - convene biannually in March and August to address regional issues.
Over two days next week, the ministers will review and discuss the status of implementation of council and summit decisions and progress on the implementation of the theme of the 43rd SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government, as well as approve the SADC Secretariat’s annual corporate plan and budget for the year 2024/2025, amongst other things.
