Mbumba pays tribute to Malawi's vice-president

President Nangolo Mbumba has paid tribute to late Malawian vice-president Saulos Chilima (51), who died in a plane crash on Monday.
This follows the confirmation of the crash by Malawian president Lazarus Chakwera yesterday.
Reacting to the incident, Mbumba said Chilima’s death was saddening.
"It is with profound shock and sadness that I have learnt about the unfortunate incident involving a Malawi Defence Force aircraft, which led to the demise of vice-president of Malawi Dr Saulos Klaus Chilima, former first lady of Malawi Shanil Dzimbiri [59] and other Malawian nationals. I have known Chilima as a leader with a deep affection for the people of Malawi and the Southern African Development Community,” Mbumba said.
According to him, Chilima's death was a loss to the African continent.
“It is unfortunate that vice-president Chilima passed on at a time when he still had so much to offer to the people of Malawi and Africa. His loss will not only be felt by the people of Malawi, but the entire African continent."
